After exhaustive research, here is a list of "famous" people who have a connection to Tucson, Arizona, USA. Being "famous" is a subjective term and certainly may be debated. The degree of "famousness" ranges from John F. Kennedy to Uli Derickson (heroic flight attendant). As the owner and proprieter of these here premises, I am the final judge of who is "famous" for the purpose of the site.
Some of the folks listed lived their whole life in Tucson. Others stopped by just long enough to go to school, get arrested, or be in rehab. But, they couldn't just drive through or stop at the airport, or visit Aunt Betty. Something significant had to happen in their lives here in order to be listed.
And, finally, what constitutes Tucson? Inside just the city limits? No, I have considered the Tucson "area" to also mean the larger metro area and Southern Arizona. Not Central or Northern, or even up to Florence. If you get TV reception from Tucson, that generally means you are in this area.
The list below contains many people with incredibly fascinating lives. My listings are very brief and to the point. To learn more about these incredible personalities, I suggest you type their names in Google and read more about them.
If you know of others you think should be on the list, just put their names, what they are famous for, and their connection to Tucson, in the box at the bottom of the page and press the SUBMIT button.
Thanks, and have fun....
Your Humble Webmaster....
Ray Lindstrom
PS: Why Tucson you ask and not New York City, Amarillo, Texas, or Geneva, Illinois? Because after living elsewhere, visiting all 50 states and more than 70 countries, I consider Tucson to be, without a doubt, the greatest place on earth. In the interest of full disclosure, it should be noted, I grew up here, went to high school and college here, and now have returned and retired here. But, I really am totally objective. Seriously.
If you know of others you think should be on the list, just put their names, what they are famous for, and their connection to Tucson, in the box here and press the SUBMIT button. If you have any other comments you wish to make, please do. And, if you would like a reply, please include your email address
